SHMA Code of Conduct

At Snow Herons Martial Arts (SHMA), we are committed to providing
a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment
where everyone can learn, grow, and enjoy their martial arts journey.
As students of Tang Soo Do, we are expected to demonstrate courtesy, integrity,
self-control, perseverance, humility, and respect in everything we do.
These values apply not only in the Dojang
but also at home, at school, at work, and within our community.
All students, parents, guardians, family members, and visitors are expected to:
Treat everyone with kindness, courtesy, and respect.
Follow the instructions of instructors and staff promptly and respectfully.
Encourage, support, and show consideration for fellow students.
Use appropriate language and behaviour at all times.
Respect the Dojang, its equipment, and the property of others.
Demonstrate good sportsmanship, self-control, and humility in both training and competition.
Help maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive training environment.
Bullying, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, abusive language,
or any form of inappropriate behaviour—
whether verbal, physical, written, or online—will not be tolerated.
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in
disciplinary action, including suspension or termination of membership.
By working together and upholding these standards,
we ensure that Snow Herons Martial Arts remains a place where everyone
is respected, supported, and encouraged to achieve their personal best.
Speaking Up
Students are encouraged to speak up if they hear about,
witness, or experience bullying, inappropriate behaviour, or any conduct
that makes themselves or others feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
Concerns should be reported to an instructor and, where appropriate, a parent or guardian
as soon as possible so they can be addressed promptly, fairly, and respectfully.
Speaking up is not "telling on someone"
Speaking up is demonstrating courage, responsibility, and respect for others.
Creating a safe and supportive training environment is everyone's responsibility.
By looking out for one another and reporting concerns,
we help ensure that every student can train with confidence in a positive and supportive Dojang
