Safeguarding
Children & Vunerable Adults

At SHMA, each person contributes to creating a safe environment for all participants—students, instructors, class assistants, and guardians alike. It is essential for everyone to follow established guidelines and exhibit behaviors that protect all members of our programs.

Martial arts offers far more than physical training — it provides a strong foundation for personal growth, confidence, and lifelong skills.

Many students begin training to learn self-defence, improve fitness and flexibility, or work towards earning a Black Belt. Throughout their journey, they also develop important qualities such as discipline, respect, focus, resilience, empathy, and confidence. These values extend beyond the training hall and positively influence everyday life, helping students grow as individuals, friends, family members, employees, and leaders.

With over 40 years of experience in martial arts, I have had the privilege of watching students transform not only into capable martial artists, but also into focused, compassionate, and determined people who discover that their goals are within reach.

At Snow Herons Martial Arts (SHMA), we are committed to creating a positive and supportive environment where every student feels encouraged, respected, and safe.

Safeguarding and student wellbeing are at the heart of our approach. Our commitment to “Keeping Children Safe in Education” ensures that robust safeguarding procedures are always in place to support, guide, and protect everyone involved in our club.

We work alongside schools and follow the guidance of the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to maintain the highest standards of safeguarding and care.

Our Safeguarding Statement explains how to recognise potential concerns, outlines the procedures to follow, and reinforces our commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for all members of SHMA
